The Saltwater Sauna is a wood-fired Nordic bathing operation running across three permanent coastal sites in Dorset and Hampshire: Sandbanks Beach in Poole, Avon Beach, and Lulworth Cove on the Jurassic Coast. Each site houses Heartwood-built saunas crafted from Nordic thermowood with panoramic sea-facing windows, Finnish wood-fired stoves, and sheep's wool insulation. Sessions run for 65 minutes in communal or private formats, with optional guided rituals led by sauna masters incorporating thermal leaf whisking, aromatherapy, salt inhalation, and sea plunging. Founded in 2021 by Finnish-born artist Arlene Glyn-Jones and cold-water enthusiast Sam Glyn-Jones, the operation suits groups and solo visitors looking for a structured coastal sauna experience.
