Editorial policy

Last updated: 8 August 2026

Wood Fired Saunas UK is an independent publication, not a marketing channel. These are the rules the site is written by. They are short because they are actually followed.

The rules

  • Facts before adjectives. A listing tells you what a place is, where it is, how it works, and who it suits — in that order. Specific details over decorative language.
  • Nothing invented. If a detail isn't known — parking, showers, session length — it is left out or marked unknown, never guessed. See how we check listings.
  • Trade-offs stated plainly. Limited parking, a rough track, no changing room — stating limits is what makes the rest of a listing believable.
  • No health overclaiming. Sauna is enjoyable and many people find it does them good; the site does not dress that up as medicine.
  • Guides are careful general information for the UK, researched against primary sources (legislation, official guidance, published prices) — not professional advice, and each guide says so where it matters.
  • Independence. No listing is paid for, and editorial judgement is not for sale. If commercial arrangements ever exist they will be labelled where they appear — see the advertising and commercial policy.
  • Errors get fixed, visibly. See the corrections policy.
