How we check listings

Every listing in the directory is researched before it goes live — none of it is scraped in bulk or copied from other directories. But “researched” can mean different things, so each listing carries a label saying exactly what stands behind it, and a date saying when it was last checked. This page defines both.

The labels

• Operator verified — the operator or builder has confirmed the listing details themselves, directly to us. The strongest label, and currently the rarest.
• Editorially researched — we built the listing from the operator's own published information and public sources: their website and social presence, sauna type and heat source from their own descriptions, location cross-referenced against public records, booking method confirmed from their booking flow. Most listings carry this label.
• Community submitted — the listing came in through the submission form and has been reviewed by a person, but not yet independently researched beyond that review.
• Unverified — the listing exists but has not yet been through a full check. We aim to have none of these.

The date, and the tick

Sauna businesses change — opening hours, prices, booking routes, sometimes ownership. So every listing shows when it was last checked, and the green tick appears only while that check is less than 120 days old. A listing checked longer ago than that shows its date plainly, with a note that details may have changed. An old check presented as a current one would be a quiet lie, and the directory's only real asset is that it doesn't tell those.

When something is wrong anyway

Checks reduce errors; they don't eliminate them. If a listing is out of date or wrong, use the “suggest an edit” link on the listing itself, or the contact form. Corrections are handled by a person — see the corrections policy.
